Descrição
Buhid is a Brahmic 11000–1104D script for languages of the Mangyans living in the Philippines. It is closely connected to Baybayin (Tagalog script) 1700–1714 .
The Buhid alphabet is an abugida, where each character represents a consonant followed by a vowel sound. It consists of 19 letters, which are written in a continuous script from left to right. It is primarily used for writing indigenous literature and religious texts, as well as for decorative purposes. The Buhid script is not widely used in everyday communication, and the Buhid people often use the Latin alphabet for writing in their language.
Efforts have been made to preserve and promote the Buhid script as part of the cultural heritage of the Buhid community. It is taught in some schools and cultural programs to ensure its continued use and transmission to future generations.
