Palmyrene Alphabet
Beschreibung
Palmyrene alphabet was a variant of cursive Aramaic script and used to write the local Palmyrene dialect of Aramaic. The oldest surviving Palmyrene inscription dates to 44 B.C. The last surviving inscription dates to 274 A.C. After Palmyra was sacked by Roman Emperor Aurelian, use of the Palmyrene language and script declined, being replaced with Greek 0391–03C9 and Latin 0041–007A .
