Описание раздела
The Meitei script or Meetei Mayek had been used to write the Meitei language, one of the official languages of the Indian state of Manipur, Bangladesh and Burma from XI—XII to XVIII centuries. It was replaced by The Bengali alphabet 0985–09CD , but in the middle of XX century the script experienced a resurgence, and is now used again. In 1976 several additional letters appeared in the alphabet to represent sounds not present in Meitei when the script was first developed. Since the early 1980s, the Meitei alphabet has been taught in schools.
