This Privacy Policy describes how the SYMBL for Chrome extension (“Extension”) collects and uses data. The Extension is provided by SYMBL team (“we”, “us”).
What the Extension does
The Extension lets you search for Unicode symbols and emoji and copy them to the clipboard from a compact toolbar popup. It does not modify website content and does not require an account or payment.
Data we collect
User activity (anonymous):
- Search queries typed in the Extension popup
- Copy-to-clipboard events (e.g., which symbol category was copied) This data is sent to our server at symbl.cc to operate the search and to generate aggregated usage statistics.
What we do not collect
We do not collect or store: names, emails, authentication data, payment information, precise location, browsing history, or the content of web pages you visit.
Note: standard web server access logs may be processed for security and reliability (e.g., error diagnostics). These logs are not used for analytics or linked to users.
Purpose of use
- Provide search results and enable copy functionality
- Product analytics to improve relevance, performance, and user experience. We do not sell data and do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Data linkage and sharing
Collected data is not linked to your identity or Chrome profile. We do not share or sell data to third parties. Service providers (if any) are used solely to host or process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
Retention
Anonymous analytics are retained only as long as necessary for the purposes above and then aggregated or deleted.
Children’s privacy
The Extension is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in the United States or under 16 in the EEA/UK (or the lower age of digital consent in your country, between 13 and 16). If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe that a child has provided us information may contact us at support@symbl.cc.
Your choices
You can stop all collection by uninstalling or disabling the Extension. If you believe you submitted personal data by mistake (e.g., inside a search query), contact us and we will remove it where feasible.
