Sunglasses Emoji 🕶

This emoji represents sunglasses without their owner. Unicode also offers an emoji wearing sunglasses (U+1F60E). As the name suggests, we use sunglasses for eye protection against bright sunlight. Lenses can be simply darkened or polarized. Usually, sunglasses don't have diopters. Apart from their original use, sunglasses have become an element of style. Pretty often people wear trendy sunglasses to look “cool”. So, the emoji has this meaning most of the time. If you recieve the smile wearing sunglasses, don't worry, the person isn’t trying to sell them to you. It's just a hint that you're cool. A sarcastic hint. Nevermind. Anyway, be careful! Direct sunlight may affect eyesight negatively. But doctors don't recommend wearing black sunglasses day and night.

The symbol “Sunglasses” is included in the “Miscellaneous symbols” subblock of the “Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 7.0 in 2014. In 2015, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 1.0 and added to the “Clothing” subcategory of the “Objects” category.
