Symbol of lilies (Fleur-de-Lis) was very popular in medieval France. It was painted on coats of arms and flags, especially representatives of the Bourbon dynasty.
The symbol “Fleur-De-Lis” is included in the “Miscellaneous symbols” subblock of the “Miscellaneous Symbols” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 4.1 in 2005. In 2015, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 1.0 and added to the “Other Symbols” subcategory of the “Symbols” category.
