Abacus or counting frame. An old instrument used for counting. It's depicted as a wooden frame with four or more arrows of wood-made beads. This emoji is used for various content related to science and mathematics, and also for counting (in all its forms) and figures in general.
The symbol “Abacus” is included in the “Objects” subblock of the “Supplemental Symbols and Pictographs” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 11.0 in 2018. In 2018, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 11.0 and added to the “Computer” subcategory of the “Objects” category.
