Emoji Meaning

A watch, usually worn on the wrist, which enables you to tell time quickly. The design depends on the platform, however the most widespread version presents an analogue white watch with dark belts. This emoji is used in various contexts, mostly time-related. What's interesting is that Apple decided to display its own digital watch, Apple Watch, whereas other platforms show the traditional design.

The symbol “Watch” is included in the “User interface symbols” subblock of the “Miscellaneous Technical” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 1.1 in 1993. In 2015, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 1.0 and added to the “Time” subcategory of the “Travel & Places” category.
