Smiling Face Emoji ☺
Emoji Meaning
A classic smiley face. This symbol appeared last century, but not as an emoticon. It became widespread thanks to the symbols of colon and parenthesis on the keyboard. In modern systems, apart from eyes and mouth, cheeks and eyebrows can be drawn on a smiling face.
The symbol “Smiling Face” is included in the “Emoticons” subblock of the “Miscellaneous Symbols” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 1.1 in 1993. In 2015, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 1.0 and added to the “Amorous Face (Affection)” subcategory of the “Smileys & Emotion” category.
