Anchor marks ports, narbours and other sea navigation objetcs on the map. Apart from that, it can also stand next to a pinned link or message in social media.
The symbol “Anchor” is included in the “Dictionary and map symbols” subblock of the “Miscellaneous Symbols” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 4.1 in 2005. In 2015, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 1.0 and added to the “Water Transport” subcategory of the “Travel & Places” category.
