Emoji Meaning
This emoji demonstrates a rainbow in the blue sky or in the clouds. This natural phenomenon happens due to the fact that water drops reflect various colours differently. As a result, the white colour spectrum falls down into several components. Usually rainbow appears when there's a bright sun light and rain.
The symbol “Rainbow” is included in the “Weather, landscape, and sky symbols” subblock of the “Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 6.0 in 2010. In 2015, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 1.0 and added to the “Sky & Weather” subcategory of the “Travel & Places” category.
