Emoji Meaning
This heavy check mark used to be a typograph glyph, and nowadays it's become an emoji. The colour depends on the platform, it can be red, blue, green or grey, but as a rule it's just black. That's what technology does to pure and decent symbols! Luckily, Unicode has one more ✓ , which hasn't been touched by emoji fever yet.

The symbol “Check Mark” is included in the “Miscellaneous” subblock of the “Dingbats” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 1.1 in 1993. In 2015, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 1.0 and added to the “Other Symbols” subcategory of the “Symbols” category.
