Downwards Arrow ↓
Symbol Meaning
The typographic arrow symbols look like arrows and show direction.
Often the down arrow shows a direction toward the observer. On road signs, the oncoming lane or sign action extends some distance in front of this sign (it prohibits the stop in front of the sign).
The up and down arrows can be printed on the doors. Up — forward, that is for you, and downward — the movement to meet you.
In the text, this means “below”. On the site, it can be a link to scroll to the right area.
In Unicode, there are many options for tracing the down arrow for different occasions. Pick your desired meaning.
The symbol “Downwards Arrow” is included in the “Simple arrows” subblock of the “Arrows” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 1.1 in 1993.
