Description
Geʽez script was a script used for Geʽez language that became disused in XIII century. Now it is used for other languages of Eritrea and Ethiopia. This script is an abugida (alphasyllabary). Every letter notes a consonant and a base vowel sound (in this case ). The syllables with other vowels are modified letters. Geʽez script was branched from the “Old Geʻez alphabet” (“Old Ethiopic”) in the first centuries B.C. that in its turn was a variant of The South Arabian alphabet 10A60–10A7F .
