Description
The Kannada script is an abugida of the Brahmic 11000–1104D family, used primarily to write the Kannada language.
Brahmi 11000–1104D is clearly attested from the 3rd century B.C. The Bhattiprolu Brahmi script evolved into the Kadamba script by the IV century, which in turn developed into the Telugu-Kannada script or 'Old Kannada script' in the X century. This “old script” gave birth to Kannada. Now it is the second spoken language in India after Devanagari 0915–0945 .
